Ix The Roman

First of all, how the **** do you pronounce that!?! Is it Ix, I-X, Ixy? If you thought any of that, you'd be waaaaay off. IX is the roman numeral for 9. IxTheRoman is 9 the Roman. Now you know *wink, cough*. IxTheRoman is a rapper coming out of New York City. At the young age of 16, he's already trying to form a family of fellow artists and visionaries. With the influences of Chance the Rapper and Big Sean, his flow can switch from gritty to pretty in an instant but somehow he makes it work. With an E.P in the works IxTheRoman is an artist to look out for.

So Roman? What do you have to say for your soon to be fans?

Well, if we're getting to the basics, my real name is Maximus Aurelius Britton. My name means the greatest gold and I try to live up to it. Bronx born on August 27th, 2001, I'm just a 16 year old, African-American kid trying to give back to my community but that doesn't mean I'm not trying to spread some love with the rest of the world. Music is a universal language that needs to be shared. I just hope all my future fans feel the same way.

Straight from the streets of Williamsbridge, IXTheRoman (Born Maximus Aurelius Britton) is an upcoming rap artist with an intellectual flow that can switch up from gritty to pretty in an instant. This 16 year old rapper’s flow is inspired by the works of Chance the Rapper, fellow New York artist Vi Seconds, and Midwest Chopper Tech N9ne. Listening to these lyrical geniuses allowed him to build and differentiate his sound until it became his own. With his sound and intellect, he’s ready to make strides and hopefully be able to give back to his community and most importantly his mom, who’s been his biggest supporter.

 

Roman grew up listening to classical music. His mother knew that it had links to better brain activity, so it was a staple in his household. That’s where he first found his love for music. As he grew, he started writing poetry, joined his school choir, practiced singing with the Jazz Drama program, and started rapping in 2014. When his love for school started to falter, he turned to music as and outlet. With support from his mom and teachers at his old high school, he started journeying into the city to participate in the EdSullivan Fellows program at NYU.

He realized that music was a way for him to write without boundaries, express his creativity, give back and have fun all at once. He has made many friendships and has even started a music group called Vongola. He still remains humble but is driven to succeed especially for his family, blood or not. IXTheRoman is one to look out for.
